How do I solve this computer problem?

You know when you go to computer, then to video ts if there is a dvd in your drive and you just take it and transfer it to another folder in your computer. well when i do that, some files are just a regular 24 minutes as a vob file should be. yet some files are like 26 hours when they are not. how do I fix this?
